October 5th

Dad is still falling a lot & is unable to catch himself anymore either, so he's quite bruised up. He is losing weight & strength. He can no longer get himself up if he falls. He pulled Mom on top of him the other day & after she picked herself up, she had to pick him up too.

They have discussed hospital admission because he may be getting to be too much for her at this point. She isn't able to sleep much with her own health problems which affect sleep patterns, and he often gets confused on time of day so he wants to get up & be dressed (which he can no longer do for himself) to leave the house, etc. The other day he wanted to get up at midnight & go get groceries, but he fell and tried for nearly an hour to pull himself up. When he finally decided to wake up Mom, she explained to him that it was midnight, not noon, and that the grocery store was closed anyway. He was up for another half hour, but Mom wasn't able to sleep the rest of the night. She isn't able to rest during the day either. I wish I was able to be more help. Tomorrow they will make a decision about hospital admission.

October 3, Round 2

The hip is likely NOT broken!! He has lost 17 pounds in the last few months tho & the doctor told him today that if he doesn't stay off his foot he will end up either hospitalized or in a nursing home.

October 3

Well, the last few days have been rough. Dad has fallen several times, and this is a continuation of the falls he's experienced the last several days. He also had a small blister develop on the underside of his foot, and it has now become part of the wound we've been fighting for more than a year now. He just doesn't seem to be able to keep any progress he makes in regard to that foot.

At the Wound Care Center today, they found out that he is running a fever & the doctor was worried his hip. So they sent him over to the hospital to get it X-Rayed. They sent it off as a call report, so hopefully we'll know soon if there is a fracture.

September 30

I have decided to keep updating this blog not only for our friends and family to read, but to have as a diary of sorts so we have a clearer timeline if conditions recur, etc.

Yesterday Dad's legs were not allowing him to bear weight. He was unable to put his foot down on the first try. Mom said it was taking him 3-4 attempts with each foot to get it on the floor as he walked. She said that made a walk across the living room or to the bathroom at least a 10 minute ordeal. He fell multiple times and has really bruised up his ribs.

His foot is showing signs of healing from the bottom of the wound up, which is good news as we haven't seen much progress in that measurement, but the hole is much wider than it has been.

He continues to have good and bad days.
